Edward Rhea, Jr. Obituary

Edward Alfred Rhea, Jr. "Eddie", "AJ" or "Papa", born October 30, 1930, departed this life peacefully on Monday, July 9, 2018, at his home in Jefferson LA. He was 87 years old and a lifelong resident of Shrewsberry. After three decades of service, AJ retired from the floral industry. He was also a proud United States Army Veteran having served in The Korean War. Son of the late Edward Alfred Rhea Sr., Bernice Rhea (stepmother) and Lenora Cannon. Devoted father of Ieatha Rhea Jackson (Houston), Trina Rhea Turner (Russell), Simone Rhea Avery, Johnna Rhea Ferdinand (Joseph) and Orlando Clark (Lakisha). He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Carolyn Williams Rhea, eldest son, Edward A. Rhea III, siblings: Geraldine Rhea, June Bannister, and Grace Chattard. Papa was also survived by 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, 13 siblings, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and devoted friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Dennis Mortuary located at 1812 Louisiana Ave, New Orleans, 70115 at 8 A.M. Visitation will begin at 7 A.M. Intermittent will follow at Providence Memorial Park and Mausoleum, 8200 Airline Dr., Metairie, LA 70003. Repast following at Lemon Gym, 1307 Causeway Blvd, Jefferson, LA 70121. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to Keysla Rhea Jones, 1313 Madewood Dr. LaPlace, LA 70068.

Rest in peace A.J. All of us in the neighborhood really missed your daily walks. You did your walks, stopped to chat and smile with everyone that was outside and even knocked on the door if you didn't see us. I hope you are enjoying your daily walks in your heavenly home. Rest in peace........
