Edward George "Eddie" Schneider, a loving husband, father, Uncle, Papi, Godfather and friend passed away on Sunday, July 14th, 2024, at the young age of 64. He was born on October 28, 1959, in New Orleans, LA. He then followed his beautiful wife where they built a life together in Destrehan, LA. Eddie and Sybil met working together at Conco Food Service in the spring of 1986 and they were married on May 1, 1987. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Alyssa and Shelby (Lexy). He grew up in New Orleans and attended Redemptorist High School in graduated in 1977. He recently attended his 47th high school class reunion where he reconnected with many of his classmates. Eddie grew up loving music, going to concerts, following Zebra and The Sheiks were a few of his local favorites. He loved going to Saints games with his dad and Aunt Barbara at Tulane Stadium. Eddie was a huge Saints fan and one of his favorite memories was being in attendance with Sybil at the NFC championship game against the Vikings before the Saints won the Super Bowl for the 2009 season. His mom Mary was a Nursing Supervisor for Hotel Dieu for many years working the 3 -11 shift, which led to him and his dad Benny spending a lot of time with his dad's sisters who were phenomenal cooks; Aunt Thelma, Norma and Barbara who lived in New Orleans East. On his mom's side Eddie loved having the title of being the favorite but only cousin of Bob, Steve, Kathy and Dave Humphreys. He was blessed with many cousins, nephews, and nieces from the Schneiders. Eddie and his wife were one of the youngest couples to be honored with The Order of St. Louis Award on May 7, 2000. Eddie was also a member of the Knights of Coumbus and he was the backbone and support of the food booths for the Little Red Church fair with his wife for 29 years. He also enjoyed being the Entertainment Chairperson and had the nick name of DJ Eddie for a few of those years. Eddie was a huge part of the SCB community, and his loving smile and contagious laugh will truly be missed at events. Though out his life he enjoyed frequent lunch outings with his friends Eddie, Brian, and Tex. For the last 15 years he worked for the Department of Agriculture, the USDA, where he made a large impact and was loved by his co-workers. Eddie was an amazing "girl dad" from attending countless dance recitals, soccer, and softball games. He was his girl's biggest cheerleader and would do anything for them from making sure their cars always had gas or even making a 3-hour drive for a visit. Eddie will truly be missed by all his daughters' countless friends who he always welcomed with open arms. Harold and Stacy made Eddie even more of a "girl dad" with their three beautiful girls, Hailey, Hannah, and Sophia. He truly loved being their uncle Eddie. Eddie's favorite title was Papi, he was crazy about his grandsons, Lennon Louis and Benny Steve, but his granddaughter Rockett Ann was clearly the sparkle of his eye. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard F. Schneider, Mary Humphreys Schneider, his favorite in laws, - where he earned the title of being their favorite son in law – since he was the only one - Harold L. Chiasson Jr. and Rosemary Adams Chiasson, and his many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife Sybil Chiasson Schneider, and their daughters, Alyssa, Shelby (Lexy), and grandchildren Lennon Louis, Rockett Ann, and Benny Steve. Eddie was also the proud Dad to a few 4-legged companions, Zoe, Bella Rose, & Riley. Along with many other nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Destrehan beginning at 9AM. Mass to begin at 11:30AM with interment to follow in the church cemetery. In true Eddie style, he would like his casket to be covered in stickers, we will have an assortment of music, New Orleans, and religious stickers for everyone to pick from to place on his casket.
