Edward Mung Yok Tsoi

TSOI Edward Mung Yok Tsoi, well-known New Orleans Architect, died on Dec. 17, 2005 in Baton Rouge, LA at age 89. He received a Degree in Civil Engineering at St. John's University and then attended the University of Michigan, where he received a BS and MS in Architecture in 1939. Mr. Tsoi began his career in WV and later moved to New Orleans, where he established his own practice in 1951. Over his long and distinguished career, he designed and renovated many New Orleans Public Schools, Jefferson Parish School Libraries, numerous churches and commercial and residential buildings and the Korean Pavilion at the 1984 Worlds Fair. Mr. Tsoi was a member of the American Institute of Architects Emeritus, the Louisiana Architects Assoc. Husband of the late Ruby Lu Wei Hsia. His survivors include his fianc¨e Julianna Boudreaux of New Orleans, LA; his daughter Katherine Croft of Metairie, LA; his son, Edward T.M. Tsoi and his daughter-in-law Louise S. Tsoi of Arlington, MA; and his son, David T.P. Tsoi of Rancho Viejo, TX, four granddaughters; three great grandchildren and ten sisters and brothers. A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Saturday, January 7, 2006 at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home in New Orleans, LA. Those wishing to visit with the family may come in the hour prior to the service.
