Sadly, I was not aware of Elise's passing until now. Although we were brought together by a brief work assignment for AT&T in 1981 in New Jersey, we became friends and kept in touch for years. Elise and I shared so many interests and I still remember her wit and sense of humor! Unfortunately, we lost touch after Katrina, something I truly regret! Elise, you were a blessing in my life and I truly am sorry our paths diverged and I was unable to locate you again. The last time we spoke you were living in Florida with your sister while Bay St. Louis rebuilt. My Illness and a 2008 hurricane in my area in Texas sealed our fate but, hopefully, we will meet again in the afterlife!

My condolences to David and the family. I have many fond memories of 'Mrs. Hilbert', who was a great mother for her sons. As Dave's friend, I was always made to feel welcome in their home when I was growing up. She even included me on some shopping trips for school clothes! She was well read and very intelligent, and challenged me to read classic literature, for which I am grateful. I recall her love of classical music, and it was always a treat to converse with her about history and current events. All my best to her loved ones, she was a wonderful person.

Thank you John for telling me this obituary was available online so that I could read about this wonderful woman. I am sorry that I never got to meet her and I am so grateful to her for giving me an amazing friend and mentor to guide me in my professional life. She is/was the reason that I have you in my life and for that I will be always indebted to her.
