Ellen Fuge Obituary

FUGE Ellen Mathes Fuge died on Friday, February 5, 2010, in Providence, RI at the age of 96. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Thomas Francis Fuge, Jr.; daughter Maureen Ellen Fuge; her parents Annie Elizabeth Caulfield Mathes and Theodore Joseph Mathes; brothers Theodore (Ted), Ambrose (Pat), Leon, James and Joseph (Joe) Mathes; and sisters Thelma and Mildred Mathes. She is survived by her brother Carl A. Mathes and her sister Norma M. Cocklin; her daughters Laurie Jean Fuge and Kerry Fuge(Robert) Mathison; grandchildren Sarah, Thomas, and Michael Mathison and Sean, Patrick, and John-Neil Uiterwyk; great grandchildren Reilly and Claire Uiterwyk, and Ian Uiterwyk. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation and Funeral Mass. Visitation will be at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 between the hours of 6:00 P.M. and 8:00 P.M. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Holy Name of Jesus Church, 6363 St. Charles Avenue, New Orleans, LA on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Interment will be in Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to Jesuit High School Living Endowment Fund, 4133 Banks Street, New Orleans, LA 70119 (E-Mail [email protected]) preferred. Guest book may be signed on line www.schoencanalstreet.com.

We called her Fudge when she was with the Girl Scouts. And I have many fond memories from Camp Covington.
