Emily Bayle Obituary

Emily Friend Bayle died peacefully at the age of 79 on November 28 following a long illness with Alzheimer's. She is survived by her husband Dufour, her daughters Lisette Bayle, Valerie Bayle Finch, Stephanie Bayle Gray and Aimee Bayle Dodds and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father John Henry Friend, Sr.("Major"), her mother Inez Blanchard Friend, and her brother John Henry Friend, Jr. A native of Mobile, AL, Emily attended Newcomb College where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma fraternity. In 1964, she married the love of her life Dufour, and they were blessed to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary in October. Emily was a long-time parishioner of St. Francis Xavier parish and was very active in her community, participating in Junior League of New Orleans, Junior Philharmonic Society and several other organizations. For her contributions, she was recognized as a Great Lady of Jefferson Parish. She was bestowed the Order of St. Louis medallion by the Archbishop of New Orleans for her tireless work on the WLAE-TV auction. Known for her warm smile, caring heart and easygoing personality, Emily loved music and dancing and was somewhat of a Francophile. She entertained us with her piano playing and Cajun joke telling. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and friends. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at LAKE LAWN METAIRIE FUNERAL HOME, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. (in Metairie Cemetery) on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 12:00 pm. I am sorry to hear of the loss of your loved one. May you find comfort in the words found at Psalm 36:9.With you is the source of life. The one who gave life to all living creatures is certainly capable of restoring life to someone who has died. So we can be sure to find comfort here in God's words.
Death leaves a heartache only God can heal, Love leaves a memory no one can steal.
