Eugene Wagner Obituary

WAGNER Eugene Anthony Wagner, Jr. passed away on Monday, December 14, 2009 age of 88. Beloved husband of Gloria Mae Justice Wagner. Father of Eugene A. Wagner, III his wife Julie and Donald Edward Wagner his wife Janise. Grandfather of Allison Mae Wagner, Ryan Donald Wagner and Katherine Lynn Wagner. Son of Eugene A. Wagner Sr. and Caroline Charlotte Vorbusch Wagner. Brother of Jacob G. Wagner and Betty Wagner Page and the late Charlotte W. DeGeorge, Ruth W. Cronin and Paul Alvin Wagner. Also survived by 12 nieces and nephews. Mr. Wagner was 1988 Grand Master of Louisiana Free and Accepted Masons, Past Master of Graham Washington and member of Sam Dryfuse Lodges, Charter member of Marrero Lodge, Thirty third degree Mason of New Orleans Scottish Rite, organized 18th District Masonic Lodge where he was past master and treasurer. He was a member of Knight Templar, Jerusalem Temple Shrine, Farhad Grotto, Royal Order of Scotland, American Legion Post #307, Military Order of World Wars, National Sojourners where he was Past President, a lifelong member of Salem Church where he sang in the choir and was 2009 OPA. He was a graduate of Fortier High School and LSU in Electrical Engineering. He was an Army First Lieutenant during W.W. II where he was on a fully loaded unescorted ship headed for an island near Japan to set up for the invasion of Japan when the war ended. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Rose Croix and Masonic Service at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Monday, December 21, 2009 at 11:00 am. Followed by a Christian Service. Interment in Masonic Cemetery No. 2. Friends may visit after 9:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Salem Church, 4212 Camp St., New Orleans, LA 70115. Mr. Gene was considered my friend whom
shared his stories of old Lafitte with me. He will be truly missed and my condolences go to his loving wife

I worked under and with Gene from 1966 until his retirement. I remember him as someone who was patient, easy to talk to, never unkind, and never lost his temper. I have fond memories of working with him and deeply saddened by his death.
