Eva Mead Obituary

Eva Ross Mead entered into eternal rest on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Born in Lemonville, LA on February 27, 1940, to the late Dennis and Hazel Joshua Ross, the family moved to New Orleans where Eva attended public schools. She graduated from Walter L Cohen Senior High School Class of 1957. She was married to the late Richard Wayne Mead; was mother to Gary Wayne Mead; grandmother of Lauren, Richard and Matthew Mead. Eva was the younger sister of the late Sarah Ross Joseph, sister-in-law of the late Howard "Skip" Joseph and Charlie Mead; Daughter-in-law of the late Dorothy Mead; Aunt to Jarrod Joseph (Danniele) and Jeannine Joseph Haynes (Sean), Dexter Mead, Jariah and Mason Joseph and MacKenzie Haynes; She also considered herself the "adopted mother" of Michael Jackson. Eva was employed as an LPN for over 40 years. She selfishly rendered caring services to her mother, father, husband and many neighboring elders and friends. Eva leaves to cherish her memory her family, life-long friends, Palm-Air and Hollygrove-Dixon neighbors and others. Members and friends of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, Hollygrove Church of Christ, Brooks-Shaw Temple UMC; neighbors from Palm-Aire and Hollygrove-Dixon neighborhoods; former employees of U.S. Public Health Hospital, Flint Goodridge Hospital, and Medical Office of Dr. Larry A. Wooden; Alumna of Walter L. Cohen Senior School and Class of 1957; employees of Merck & Co.; members of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc; former graduates of Joseph S. Clark Senior High School; employees of Touro Infirmary T6 & T8 units, are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at Little Zion Baptist Church, 3231 Audubon Street, New Orleans, LA at 3:00 pm. Ms mead I remember you as a wonderful person doing my job at USPS hospital in 1970 to 1976 very good person we lost track of each other you were a great nurse . The reason I went to nursing school an became an LPN too.

Wow! I'm still in disbelief....You always know subconsciously that things like this will happen but you hold on to the unknown...Nothing will ever prepare you for life especially when death is involved. I do understand that you're in a better place. God not only prepared you but also prepared those you leave behind! The memories are lifelong and I'm blessed to be a part of those that we shared...I'm definitely blessed to have those memories with you I will always hold you dear to my heart..RIH! ms.eva me and my mom going to miss you so much I know my mom will she will miss your call and you will say b "barbara" I have not talk to you in a min and yall will talk about life and other things I remember when my mom told you that my grandmother had pass away and you mail me a beautiful card the words had such beautiful words in it when I can to see you when you was in the hosipal and I walk in the room I told you no one btter not be messing with you in here and you laugh and say to me stop talking loud they have sick ppl in here and when I got the call that you had pass away my heart was broken I prayed and prayed that god will heal you but I guess he needed you with him me and my momma going to miss you so much and your godchild amy to you will always be in our heart forever r.i.h tee eva
