Uncle John, Steve, Carol, Rosalind, and Byron,
As I had told Carol, Aunt Evelyn was truly a "unique and one of a kind". I can't help but smile when I think of her. I can not think of a time I was around her that she didn't have me laughing about something! And Uncle John, I will forever be grateful for you and Aunt Evelyn being here for my Momma after my Dad passed away comforting and keeping her spirits up and then again when Ronny passed. And ya'll did exactly that...she loved being around the two of you and enjoyed her time with ya'll. Aunt Evelyn was a treasured jewel in our family and I will forever hold her dear in my heart.
I love you all very much !!

We have fond memories of our beautiful, funny, entertaining, Aunt Evelyn. As children we enjoyed weekend visits and sometimes "sleep overs" at Aunt Evelyn & Uncle John's house. They always made us feel comfortable and safe. She was such a blessing to our family!

Well it certainly was a lot of fun knowing Ev over the years. I will miss her, but am glad I can look forward to many more stories from Roz. I loved it when she used to say "They don't need to know all that!," it has become one of my favorite phrases. So sorry for your tremendous loss.

I have only had the pleasure of being in your presence a few times but felt like I knew you a life time. I could listen to EV stories all day from Roz. Now my new quote is "Don't Stud on it" and every time I say it I will think of you.

Evelyn,
I am so profoundly saddened by your passing. I can, however, rejoice at your arrival in Heaven. You gave me a lifetime of memories in the many years I've known you. You were a special person who was loved by everyone. You were a great mother-in-law and friend. I will think of you every day. You will truly be missed.

I first had contact with Evelyn and John Kives in the 1960s. She was my first cousin, daughter of my mother's younger sister: Leonise Marguerite Gautier Holmes and Jasnes John Holmes. Evelyn and John Kives have a daughtwe named Rosalind Kives Maddox, who did an Hebert/Gautier genealogy in 2002 and shared it with enirre family. For this I am especially appreciative.
The Gautiers moved to New Orleans (from Houma, Louisiana)in 1923, and first settled in at 1022 Royal St. in the French Quarter.
My condolences to all members of the family.

I met Evelyn and her husband, John Kives, back in the 1960s. We were not necessarily close, but in 2002 I was very surprised by what her daughter, Rosalind Kives Maddox, had done in supplying us with a full genealogy of the Hebert/Gautier Clan. This is a maternal genealogy, as the Gautiers came to New Orleans in 1923, and first settled at 1022 Royal St. in the French Quarter (Vieux Carre). Her grandmother, Clara Hebert Gautier died in 1927; her grandfather, Henry Clovis Gautier died in 1931. Both were still young and we never did get to know them.
My condolences to all the members of the family.

Mom
Now that you've arrived in Heaven,
And entered through the gates,
Enjoy the beauty of your new home,
And your heavenly family that awaits.
Your mother died when you were seven,
And you felt so afraid and alone,
But now you'll be with her in Heaven,
Resting beside our Savior's throne.
Although we are sad right now,
We will make it through this pain,
Our comfort comes from your final peace,
And that we will all be reunited again.
For those us who are left to mourn,
We have that reassuring grace,
That one day we'll be called home,
Then we'll meet again face to face.
So rest in peace our sweet mother,
We will see you again one day,
We still have to live our journey,
But the good Lord will guide our way.
