Frances Morgan Obituary

MORGAN Frances Annelle Almond Morgan died at age 93 on Thursday, September 27, 2007, at 7:15 p.m. at Williamsburg Retirement Center in Baton Rouge, LA where she had resided since 1998. She was born February 24, 1914 in Athens, Texas and was reared in Troup, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents Frazier Greig Almond and Edna Mock Almond and by her husband Joseph Atkinson Morgan, to whom she was married for 62 years. She is survived by her son, Dr. Joe A. Morgan and his wife, Lynn of Baton Rouge, LA; daughter, Judy and her husband, Dr. Joseph Chiapella of Chico, California; son, and John Morgan and his wife, Cathy of Slidell, LA; six grandchildren: Julie Morgan Hubbell and her husband, Mickey, David Morgan and his wife, Julie all of Baton Rouge, LA, Stacy Morgan Collins and her husband, John of River Ridge, LA, Ashley Morgan Bertrand and her husband, Corey of Crowley, LA, Geoffrey Chiapella and his wife, Erin o San Luis Obispo, CA, and William Chiapella of Chico, CA; eight great-grandchildren: Regan, Michael and Matthew Hubbell, Joseph, Janie and Julianne Morgan all of Baton Rouge, LA, Claire and Madeline Collins of River Ridge, LA. Shortly after she was graduated from Texas State College for Women with an music degree, she was married. She continued to live in Texas for a short while and then lived for extended periods in Wood River, IL and Chalmette, LA before retiring to Ruston, LA. She had a lifelong passion for music. She was an accomplished organist and pianist and served as organist for Methodist churches wherever she resided. For 25 years, she played the organ at St. Bernard United Methodist Church in Chalmette. She also played organ at Grace United Methodist Church in Ruston for 19 years. She was a piano teacher wherever she lived and taught many students over the years. With her move to Williamsburg, she brought her baby grand piano and regularly entertained the residents. She will be interred alongside her husband at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Ruston, LA. Visitation will be held at Kilpatrick Funeral Home, 209 N. Bonner St., Ruston, LA on Thursday, October 4, 2007 from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. with Graveside Service to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Ruston, LA.

Dear Joe, Judy and John,

I was so sorry to read about your mother's passing. I remember her so well from St. Bernard UMC, she played at my wedding (1960).
