If we could only humbly collect the shadow of the intellect and compassion which has now evaporated from this little sphere!

Dear Margaret, Becky and Michael,

Pam and I were so sorry to hear of your (or rather our)loss. Frank was special to me. We shared an interest in mathematics and in administration.

When I arrived at Tulane, the full professors in topology were Gail Young and Bruce Treybig. Normally I would have gotten advice from them, but they left the next year. Frank did a lot to fill that void. Sometimes he would preface his advice with an outrageous suggestion, but that was part of the fun.

I shall miss him.

I first met Frank at Notre Dame so many years ago. He was a ghreat and entusiatic teacher; a loyal and suoperior naval officer; a great University administratior a woinderful dad and hi=usband.

But to me he was simply a great friend. He helped me get over some tough times while he always had Tulane and his family in mind.

I will truly misshim a lot and hopefilly will meet him again in heaven.

Margaret, Rebecca and family, and Michael. How sad I am for all of you. We knew Frank at Notre Dame during his graduate school days. I'll always remember him as a person of integrity, a Southern gentleman, and a man who used his intelligence to make the world a better place. Memories of happy days will follow. My condolences to Margaret and family on the passing of Frank. We first met at Notre Dame as graduate students in math. Frank's many contributions to Mathematics and then subsequently to Tulane Univesity are a measure of both his abiding Faith and his deep concern for others. A visit to New Orleans without a visit with Frank is my loss.
