Gail DeBord Obituary

Gail Worth DeBord, ThD was born in Columbia, MO on May 31, 1935. He died February 15, 2022 at the age of 86. He is preceded in death by his wife, Linda Lee Short DeBord; parents; Worth and Evelyn; brother; Larry. He is survived by sons; Mark (Kelli) and Matthew (Kay); grandchildren; Joshua DeBord (Jackie), Julie Hamilton (Will), Timothy DeBord (Whitney), Tyler Albritton (Kelsey), Courtney Albritton, Alexandra Cory (Tyler); and great grandchildren; Juliet DeBord, Jackson DeBord, Adalyn Grace Albritton and Hunter Hamilton. Raised on a farm in Missouri, Dr. Gail Worth DeBord was without question one of those "larger than life" men who don't have to embellish stories to make them exciting, his life experiences were actually spectacular. Whether he was alligator hunting, fishing Louisiana swamps in a literal cypress dugout, hunting in Texas, snow skiing in Switzerland, trout fishing in Canada, mountain climbing in California, or taking up a new hobby in his late 40s like scuba diving, there was nothing mundane about his tales! The time spent with his two sons playing basketball, ping-pong, fishing, hunting, or watching them play sports included many life lessons taught along the way. All this does not include other personal pursuits that might arise like collecting all types of barbed-wire found in the wild, loading his own rifle shells, developing his own film, or digging his own dugout from a cypress log. But believe it or not, our father was known for something much more vital, something he pursued with even more passion. He was a preacher of the Word of God, a proclaimer of life in Jesus Christ! Having pastored several churches full-time for over 45 years, having preached all over the world, and having personally led many souls to Christ, the impact of his life will have many eternal returns, all to the glory of our great God and Savior, the Lord Jesus! "How lovely on the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news" (Isaiah 52:7a). To us, he was "Dad." The blessings instilled within us are far more than anyone could deserve! Thank you, Lord, for enriching our lives with the wealth of Your providence through our father, Gail DeBord! Memorial services will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022 in Feazel Chapel at First Baptist Church West Monroe. Visitation will be from 10:00am until time of service at 11:00am. Arrangements are under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home West Monroe, LA. www.griffinfuneralhome.net.

Matthew and Mark,

We want to express our deepest sympathy in the passing of your father. He was indeed a great man of God. A love bigger than life for sharing his faith as well as his adventurous life. We are sorry we did not know of his passing. We would certainly have been there. Our prayers go out to both of you and the extended family.
