Gary Lore Obituary

Gary L. Lore, 71, of Bridgeville, DE passed away on Friday January 20, 2023 at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer. Gary was the son of the late Edgar P and June A (Peacock) Lore. He is survived by his wife of 49 years Janet (Brundige), his daughter Heather (Sean) Crowley, and son Kevin. Gary was a loving grandfather to his 4 grandchildren and is also survived by his brother Mark, his sister Gail (Rich) Salkauski, and brother Dean (Judy). Gary was born in Camden, NJ and attended Woodrow Wilson High School class of 1969. He furthered his education and received a Master's of Science in Geology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) in 1974. Gary then began his 32 year career, as a petroleum geologist in the Department of the Interior's Offshore Oil and Gas program. He then rose to senior management positions in the Pacific and Gulf of Mexico Regions. Gary was later selected as Chief of the Resource Evaluations Division at Minerals Management Service headquarters in Herndon, VA. He was a leading national expert on the oil and gas resources of the US Outer Continental Shelf, and authored numerous professional papers on the topic. He retired from the Department of the Interior in 2008. In honor of Gary's wishes, there will be no services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lansingburgh Boys and Girls Club, (Lansingburghboysandgirlsclub.com) (501 4th Ave Troy NY 12182). This location held a special spot in Gary's heart, as he worked there all through his college years, he even proposed to his wife, Janet, on the steps of this location.
