Sandy
Cindy and I were sad and broken hearted to hear of George's passing.
Every year when we make our trip to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, George's smile was always the first thing we saw, and we knew we were home. He always made us feel like family and we truly loved him for that. We will miss him and always be honored and blessed to have known him.
May God bless and comfort you and your family during this difficult time.
We love you all so much.

George was a dear friend. As a husband, father, son, brother, and coach he was a great example of keeping God and his family first place in his life. Someone once said, “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; but it also leaves memories no one could ever steal”. George's love and life leaves his family and friends everlasting memories. Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife, children, parents and brothers. May God bring you peace during this incredibly difficult time.

I say goodbye to a life-long family friend, George Dragon.
What a champion this man was. He fought cancer with all his might while remaining poised, dignified and had the selflessness, and wherewithal to counsel, and inspire others.
Making everything ok for his family and friends was always his way it seems. A big smiling face every time you saw him, a wonderful spirt and full of happiness, an inspiration without question or doubt. His last months were just as he lived his life, all class!
I will never forget the way he handled himself, what a gentleman we lost.
God's speed George, I hope to see your smiling face again someday...

Dear Sandy, I am so sorry to hear about George. I have never read so many wonderful and inspiring words about one person as I have read here about George. You must be so proud of him, the people he has touched and how much he is loved. None of this compares I am sure to how much he loves you and how much you love him. I know that you are hearing over and over that he is with you and watching over you and I know too that there are times when your heart might feel its just not enough because it hurts so much. But I can tell you its true- because I know when my mom is with me. For some people it takes time- but it might come in a familiar smell that comes out of no where, or a song that reminds you of him, suddenly pops into your head, a funny saying he used to say, an old memory that you had forgotten about, all little things that are connections to him letting you know he is there. If you are open to it you can tell he is with you and its not wishful thinking on your part. He truly is letting you know he is there in his own way. You know him best so you know what is in his heart and yours - you just need to keep it open- he truly is with you. You are all in my prayers and I wish you the best and my deepest condolences to all of the Dragon family.

Dear Dragon family,
I grew up on Georgetown Drive just a few houses away from George and his family. I remember playing football in the street, riding bikes until dark, and playing baseball at Wentwood with the same group of guys throughout my entire childhood. One of those guys, the one who made me laugh the most, was George. He was the only George I knew growing up, and just as his name was unique to me, George himself was one of a kind. After I left home and started a family with my wife, Carmen, I lost touch with just about everyone in the neighborhood. I saw George and Wayne on a few occasions, but this past summer my family took a cruise. Almost as soon as we boarded the ship, I saw George with all of you on a family vacation. When I introduced my family to him, it felt like I was a kid again. It was like we hadn't missed a beat. He was still the nicest, friendliest guy I know. It's amazing how his light of happiness radiated out of him. When my wife met him, she could just feel that he was a good person, even though she had never met him before. Even my children told me that they liked him. It was an honor for us to spend a few short times with George and your family on the cruise. Although we hardly saw him, we will still miss him because he had such a positive influence on us in such a short time. You are all in our prayers, as is George.

We never know the hows or the whys when a sudden illness and/or a death has happened. With all the information and knowledge that can be attained at the stroke of a keyboard, no where can we find the answers that we all crave when a dear loved one is suddenly taken from us. There are no mere words that can help us to understand, as if understanding could bring someone back into our arms and lives. Yet, deep down we recognize that our humanity leaves us short for that comprehension. It is at these times, that each of us must find some comfort in the fact that as we have lived our lives, numerous others have lived along side of us. During our laughter, during our sadness and during our grief, we have shared this human experience with spouses, children, family and friends. They have been touched by each of you and you have left an indelible “mark” with them.
George left his “mark” with many. He was a talented, caring, loving, fun filled man whose legacy will live on in many, many hearts. His laughter was infectious. His smile could make a Mad Hatter smile. His natural gift of dance was a site to behold. He could wear out a room full of dance partners and all with grace and charm.
All of his contributions to this thing called life have left their “mark” with you. These marks have enriched each one of us and that is what we will grieve. Our hearts long to connect with our George. To find comfort, we must share these “marks” with each other. These are George's stories. We should tell our stories to each other often. This is the way we cope and heal. This is the way George will stay here with us. He lives on in those precious memories.
Sandy, please know that I am available to listen whenever you are ready.
TJ, Samantha and all other family members and friends, start sharing your stories. Keep George's spirit in your hearts and know that he has your “mark” with him also.
May God's angels hold each of you tightly in their wings and keep you safe.
Madeline & EJ Cox

What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived, and that your life left memories too beautiful to forget. To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
