George Thomas Vila

George Thomas Vila, age 84, passed away on Tuesday October 15, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in New Orleans, LA on April 12, 1929, and resided in Metairie, LA. He graduated from St. Aloysius High School and Loyola University with a degree in Law. He excelled in basketball and baseball at both schools. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting, fishing, golf and tennis. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He then worked for State Farm Insurance for 30 years. He leaves behind his devoted and beloved wife of 58 years, Mary Clement Vila. Beloved father of Thomas Vila (Susan Marciante) , Robert (Debbie) Vila, Michael (Janet) Vila, and Barbara Vila (Jimmy) Boyle. Devoted grandfather of Curtis (Kellie) Vila, Kimberly (Albert) Aucoin , Jeremy Vila, Karrah Vila, Nicholas Quatroy and Leigh Vila. Great-grandfather of Lily Aucoin and Connor Vila. Loving brother of Carolyn Vila (Stew) Randall, and a loving uncle to a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beautiful daughter Theresa M. Vila, his parents William and Louise Vila, his brother William Vila, Jr., daughter-in-Law Pamela L. Vila, and his nephew William C. "Ti" Vila.The Vila family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to their cousin, Dr. Eric Ehrensing, for his care and compassion towards our family and our father during his passing. We also extend our gratitude to the entire staff of the CCU at East Jefferson Hospital.
