I think about Uncle George and Aunt Jeannie often. I never knew he was the oldest city employee, and that is something new I just learned about him. He was so helpful to my mother and any member of our family and that is what I will always remember about him. Michelle Michel, Niece

This time of year I remember my Uncle George and Aunt Jean Wells. What an amazing and great uncle he was. A great husband,father and brother to my mother. Always a smile on his face! He gave so much of his time to help better his community too. I don't know how he did it all even in his 80's. May he continue to rest in peace in Our Heavenly Fathers arms. A very special angel is in heaven with my mother,brothers and sisters and all his family members he loved so much.

George was one of the happiest people I knew - I just spent an afternoon with him and Jeanie the week before at a birthday party and he entertained us in true fashion. I grew up knowing George since he was a child. He was a wonderful person.

I was shocked & obviously very sorry to here of the Wells family loss. Knew & worked with George since the late 70's. In Europe could not attend the services. Suffice to say his loss is society's loss. Never heard a singlebadword about George, & in the public/political arena that is rare. Again, I'm sorry.Niles Hellmers.

Our prayers are with the Wells family and all who mourn George and Jean. Georges feet could be heard go pitter patter as he walked through Lantern Light Center 1802 Tulane Ave singing "The Old Lamplighter" I am sure George and Jean are turning on the stars at night to make it a little brighter. "Perhaps they are not really stars in the sky but rather openings where our loved ones shine down to let us know they are happy."
When we look at the stars at night we will remember George and Jean with love and prayers.

My heart is broken. I only played a couple of summers of softball for Mr. George but I have very strong fond memories. He taught us how much fun competitive team sports should be. It is a lesson I have carried with me always. Thank you Mr. George. You will be missed.

Mr. George, you taught me the importance of having fun in competition, and probably saved my life in many ways. Last year I had the great privilege of having a long breakfast with Mr. Wells. He demonstrated the skills of a true raconteur while maintaining strict standards of confidentiality when it mattered. As a fellow City retiree, I stand in awe of his service, for his fidelity, his wisdom and his sheer humanity. We will not see his like again.

U.G.L.Y. United with God and Love Yourself. One of many lessons Mr George instilled in his female athletes. Those softball summers were some of the best times of my life and i am sure the lives of all the girls that were under his wing. Uncle George will be greatly missed. His service to the City of New Orleans and various community service for over 60 years will never be forgotten.A wonderful husband, father, and brother to my mother,neices,and all family members.He had so many lifelong business and personal friends.A wonderful example to all and a great sense of humor.
