Dr. Georgia Ruth White Hulbert

1942 - 2022

Dr. Georgia Ruth White Hulbert was born on December 8, 1942, to the late Deacon and Deaconess, Alex and Julia White. She was the second born of four children, two of whom preceded her in death. She entered eternal rest on Tuesday, August 23, 2022. Her calling was to teach, and her mission statement was to view the world through the Spiritual eyes of God by evangelizing and making disciples. She was a loving member of The Asia Baptist Church; Pastored by, Rev. Dr. Kenneth G. Thibodeaux, where she served as a Deaconess on the Deaconess Board, and a member of Sis. Lois Watkins Adult Sunday school Class. Georgia Ruth was appointed Dean of the First District Missionary Baptist Association Congress of Christian Education under Congress President Dr. Warren J. Ray, Jr, in 1998 under the Leadership of Dr. Zebedee Bridges, Sr. President of First District Missionary Baptist Association. She served as Dean of Records mentoring several deans throughout her tenure. Dr. Hulbert was a certified Congress instructor of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. where she was also recognized as Dean of the Year by the Sunday School Publishing Board. Georgia Ruth White Hulbert was the second black member and the first black woman to be appointed to the Louisiana State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education, known as the (BESE Board) by Governor Edwin Edwards. Georgia received her BS from Grambling State University in Speech and Drama; Med, from Southeastern University, and Med +30 from UNO. She received her Doctorate of Arts from Hill University majoring in Theater with an emphasis in Theology. She retired from Orleans Parish School Board after working as a Speech Therapist, English/Speech & Drama Teacher, Truancy Center Director, Assistant Principal and Principal with 33 years of service. Later, she became a Professor at Union Baptist College and Theological Seminary where she taught for 7 years. Georgia was also a Diamond Life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. New Orleans Alumnae Chapter, with 50+ years of service as well as a member of the Order of Eastern Star. She was an avid reader, loved to swim and take "Selfies." She was also a "Who Dat" Fan. You could always find her in her favorite chair reading and writing when she was not "catnapping" or servicing others while quietly doing her mission work. Georgia lived by her favorite scripture, Psalm 62:5; "My soul waits thou only on God; for my expectation is from Him,". Her favorite hymn was "Even Me." She viewed the world through the eyes of God. Salvation is the only way. Dr. Georgia Ruth White Hulbert is the sister of Ruby White Felix, the late Kent White and Alexis White Howard. She is also the widow of the late Alvin L. Hulbert; the mother of two handsome sons, D' Wayne (Tory) & Darren Hulbert. She also leaves behind 1 godchild, Areonne Alexis Howard. Also survived by 6 adorable grandchildren: D'Arrenique Hulbert, Darren Von James Hulbert, Darren Von Hulbert, Jr., Deja Monique Hulbert, Darian Butler, and Derius Prevost Hulbert, 6 beautiful spoiled great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, and beloved family members. Family and friends are invited to attend the Homegoing Celebration on Friday, September 9, 2022, at The Asia Baptist Church, 1400 Sere St, New Orleans LA 70122 for 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Pastor Kenneth Thibodaux will be officiating.
