Geraldine Marie Lloyd Moncada

1939 - 2024

Geraldine Marie Lloyd Moncada passed away peacefully at St. David's Round Rock Medical Center, Austin, Texas, on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, after a brief illness. Affectionally known by friends and family as Gerry, she was born in La Ceiba, Honduras, on August 18, 1939 to James William Lloyd, Sr., and Carmelina Bertot Lloyd, both preceded her in death. She was a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, for many years, and of late, Austin, Texas. Mrs. Moncada was the beloved wife of Jose Mario Moncada, Sr., her husband of 53 years, and beloved mother to Jose Mario Moncada, Jr. (Mario), and Alana Moncada. Loving sister to James William Lloyd, Jr., and Valerie Lloyd Wright. She was devoted to her children, siblings, and grandchildren and loved spending time with them. She was "Mimi" to her granddaughters, Aria Rose and Camille Rebecca Bicknase. She was a much loved aunt to Melanie Lloyd Breaux Baldwin, James Bishop (Peck) Lloyd, Christina Wright Sternhell; and great-aunt to Olivia and Lily Breaux, Ava and Scarlet Lloyd, and Liam James Sternhell. Mrs. Moncada attended boarding schools in Louisiana and Mississippi and is a graduate of Providence Central High School, Alexandria, Louisiana, attended St. Mary of the Pines High School, Chatawa, Mississippi, and graduated from Soule Business College in New Orleans. She worked for many years as an executive legal assistant with various legal firms in New Orleans before retiring in 2005 after Hurricane Katrina. Ms. Moncada was a long time parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church and was the recipient of the Order of St. Louis IX Medallion in recognition of her great dedication and years of service to the Catholic Church and Archdiocese of New Orleans. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation and Mass of Christian Burial at Christ the King Church, 535 Deerfield Road, Terrytown, Louisiana, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 27 with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Interment services at 12:30 p.m. will be held at Westlawn Cemetery at the Mausoleum Fountain Side Unit III, 1225 Whitney Avenue, Terrytown, LA.
