Gerard Haqq Obituary

Gerard Aidan Regan Haqq transitioned naturally from his Earthly life on Friday, August 19, 2016 in New Orleans, Louisiana at the young age of 53 years. He was born on August 4, 1963 to the late Raye Julius Regan Sr. and Wardah M. Haqq (Rosemary Banks). Gerard was known by those who spent any time in his company as being humble, generous, and full of compassion for people and his community. Even though his formal education was still in progress, Gerard spent most of his life as a highly sought after Mechanic. He was known for his depth of knowledge, craftsmanship, and honesty. In addition, he spent a number of years as a Truck Driver, most notably at Hornady Truck Line and Prime, Inc., where he earned numerous accolades for safety and service. His hobbies included fishing, racing and racecar fabrication, woodworking, metal crafting and most importantly, spending time with his children and grandchildren. Despite divorcing on four separate occasions, he was married three and a half times. Gerard, brother of Ray Julius Regan, is the father of Rameisha Iris Haqq Johnson (Jason), Andrea M. Chapman, Teresa Gallon Brown (Ali), and Gernyria Adrian Haqq, and he graciously extended his paternal role to Kelvin McDavis, Takeia McDavis Lawrence (Juston), Danneka Tassin, Dankenya McDavis, Danrenata Starks (Jarell), Danny Bew, Daniel Bew, Jeremy McDavis, Camaron Ellis, Cierra Ellis, Dominic Rogers (Katreese), the late Gerard Rogers and Lakeshia Rogers. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, aunt, uncle, cousins, and friends. An informal gathering near Lake Pontchartrain, west of Elysian Fields Ave., will take place on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 4pm to celebrate his life.
