Gerard "Jerry" Emile Toups, 72, of New Orleans, passed away on September 22, 2021, in New Orleans. Born on June 8, 1949 to the late Zepherin and Shirley (Skinner) Toups, Jerry grew up in New Orleans and was a graduate of Redemptorist High School. He enlisted in the Unites States Army where he served as a Radio Operator in Vietnam and achieved the rank of Sergeant. He was honorably discharged after serving two tours in Vietnam. He earned the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. He had a long career in computer consulting and technical support at Sperry, Unisys, Radiofone, Freeman Engineering, and Northrop Grumman. He was proud of his service as a dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus where he held many positions through the years. He loved every minute he spent with this brother Knights. Most recently, Jerry served as the Worthy Faithful Navigator for the Fourth Degree Bienville Assembly 314, Financial Secretary for De La Salle Council 3411 and Warden for the Archdiocese of New Orleans Metropolitan Chapter. He was always ready to help anyone who needed it and enjoyed being involved. Jerry was also a member of American Legion Post 307. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and taking them to do fun activities. If you spoke with him at length, he certainly shared those stories. Mardi Gras was also a favorite for him and he loved living along the Uptown parade route. You'd find him out there watching every parade during the season and catching tons of beads and trinkets for the grandkids. He is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Toups, and son, Justin Toups (Jill) and their mother Deborah Fasic Hook; grandchildren, Jackson, Sophia, Lily, Samuel, Levi, and Laurel Toups; brothers Rene Toups (Joe Hoppe) and Earl Toups (Beverly); sister Shirley Hall (Robert) and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family who will dearly miss him. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at 10:00 am with visitation starting at 8:00am, at St. Henry's Catholic Church, 812 General Pershing St, New Orleans, LA 70115 with Rev.
