Giles Duplechin Obituary

Giles James Duplechin, Sr. passed away peacefully on June 26th, 2021 surrounded by family. He was 88 years old. Giles was one of three children and is survived by his sister Sylvia Finnan; his brother Allen Duplechin preceded him. He grew up in New Orleans and served in the United States Navy during the Korean War, graduated from Louisiana State University, then from Loyola School of Law in 1965. Giles worked as Assistant District Attorney in Jefferson Parish under former District Attorney John Mamoulides. He was in private practice in Jefferson Parish for over 50 years. Giles leaves behind his loving wife of 53 years, Ann Claire Haynes Duplechin, and their three children; son Giles James Duplechin II (Michelle); daughter Stephanie Claire Duplechin; and daughter Yvette Ann Mammes (William). He is also survived by his daughter Jane Brewster. Giles was the proud grandfather of Jade Duplechin, William Mammes and Sophie Mammes. He was a member, as well as past president of the Belle Chasse Lions Club for over 45 years. Giles enjoyed flying airplanes, hunting, fishing, golf, and reading about history. He also loved traveling with his family. Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 8968 LA-23, in Belle Chasse at 11am on Wednesday, July 7, 2021. Visitation will begin at 10am. Interment will follow immediately at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell.
