Gloria Joyce Walker

August 10, 1928 – August 20, 2016 - Mrs. Gloria Joyce Bebelle Walker, 88 of Los Angeles, CA, passed away on August 20, 2016 in Glendale, CA. Gloria was born in New Orleans, LA to Reverend Alexander and Mrs. Dedies Bebelle on August 10, 1928. She attended public schools in New Orleans and after high school moved to Chicago to attend the Art Institute of Chicago. Upon receiving her Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design she returned to New Orleans. She opened her own dress shop and also worked creating Mardi Gras costumes and ball gowns. There she met and married Mr. Robert J. Walker on May 20, 1956 at St. John Divine Baptist Church. This was the church that her farther now deceased had formerly pastored. In 1961 Gloria and Robert joined the great migration and moved to California to raise their family. Gloria had a beautiful contralto voice and she loved classical music and signing. She was an avid reader with thousands of books under her belt and a social butterfly to the very end. She was a Member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Los Angeles for over 30 years. After moving to Lancaster, California she joined the Antelope Valley Christian Church where her membership remained until her passing. Gloria was preceded in death by her husband Robert J. Walker, Sr., her son Alexander John Bebelle Walker, and her brothers Reverend Charles S. Bebelle and George Donald Bebelle. Gloria is survived by her children: Lynn Bebelle, Robert J. Walker Jr., Cassaundra I. Walker. Her grandchildren: Christopher J. Green, Alonzo X. Walker, Brandon M. Green, Khayla A. Walker, Brady A. Walker. Her nieces: Carol Bebelle, Sandra Bishop, Ada Daniels, and Leasa Bebelle. Her Grandniece: Jewel Bailey. And her grand nephews: Artemes Bebelle, Terrance Bishop, and Charles Bishop. She loved life and lived it to the fullest.
