The Obituary of Deputy Gregory Keith Mitchell, 1971-2024. Gregory Keith Mitchell departed his earthly home and entered into his heavenly home on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at the age of fifty-two. Greg became the sixth offspring born to the union of John Daniel and Audry Driver Mitchell on Monday, November 15, 1971, in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana at Touro University Hospital. Greg and his siblings were reared in Laplace, LA. At an early age Greg accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was blessed at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in Reserve, LA. However, as an adult he frequently fellowshipped and worshiped at New Rescue Mission Baptist Church in Reserve, LA. Educated in St. John the Baptist Parish Public school system, Greg was a proud graduate of East St. John High School class of 1989. After graduating high school Greg worked several years in the automotive industry, where he charmed his way into the hearts of many. His smile and upbeat personality always left an impression on all who knew him. In 2019, Greg joined the St. John the Baptist Parish Police force. This career change became one of his greatest accomplishments in life. He illuminated with pride every time he put on his uniform. Greg was joined in Holy matrimony to Nia Ellis-Michell on May 25, 2002. In their union they were blessed with four beautiful daughters, Sandrika P. Mitchell, Tracey A. Mitchell, Gregorii A. Humphrey, and Logan M. Mitchell and three grandkids: Riley S. Boudreaux, Teigen L. Robinson, and Tei'Jay L. Robinson. Remembrance of him will also forever be felt in the hearts of his mother, Audry Driver Mitchell; siblings, Connie Mitchell, Pastor Cheryl Mitchell-Gaines, Kenneth (Claudia) Mitchell; two godsons Durnell Gaines, Tyrin Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends. Greg was preceded in death by his father, John Daniel Mitchell; his sisters, Tracy Mitchell, Karen Mitchell, godson Rayquan Mason; as well as his aunt, Marjorie Clark. Family and friends are invited to the Homegoing Celebration on Monday, January 15, 2024, at 12 p.m. at Providence Baptist Church #2, 17294 River Road, Montz, LA. Viewing will be held from 10 a.m. until service time. Elder Cedric Davis, Interim Host Pastor. Pastor Vernel Braud, officiating. Interment: St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve, LA.
