Harriett Singleton

Harriett Perique Singleton entered peacefully in the arms of her savior and the call to eternal rest at her residence on Monday, September 19, 2022, at the age of 74. She was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Gretna, LA. Harriett was a 1966 graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, and continued her studies at Delgado Community College, graduating with a certification in accounting. Harriett also completed Cosmetology School to express her aspirations for hair, nails, and makeup. A true entrepreneur, she owned a records shop and owned and operated Harriett Tax Services for over 20 years. As a co-owner of Club Jay's for 22 years she became an adopted mother to many, sharing her love for people and the community. She was an active member of All Saints Catholic Church, where she served with the Bereavement Ministry, Eucharistic Ministry, and the Rosary Group. Loving and devoted mother of John L. Walker (Monika). Doting and adored grandmother of Jalen and Jayce Walker. Bonus mother of Sean Davis (Pamila). Beloved daughter of the late Joseph Nelson Perique and Albertine Perique. Sister of Walter (Phyliss) Umrani, Steve (Linda) Perique, Alma (the late Willie) Harris, George Perique, Kay (Ralph) Lloyd, China (Jesse) Hill, Vincent Perique, Albertine Perique, Kent (Leslie) Shelby, Zina Shelby, and the late Jannie Mae Robertson, Jerry, Sr., Joseph, and Raymond Perique. Also cherishing her memories are a host of adopted sons and daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family, also priest and parishioners of All Saints Catholic Church and all neighboring churches; members of Knights of Perter Claver Ladies Auxiliary St. Rita Court #36 are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at All Saints Catholic Church, 1441 Teche Street, New Orleans, LA on Friday, September 30, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. until service time at the church.
