Dr Gabert will be sorely missed. He has been so influential to so many physicians. I often find myself quoting him to my junior physicians--his surgical skills were excellent and he had such a common sense approach that is hard to find these days. He was also so admirable for his never give up attitude. He will be missed. We will keep his family in our prayers through this difficult time.

Ave, I am holding you in my heart. As his patient, your husband helped and supported me through 2 pregnancies. I consider myself to be
so fortunate for having him as my doctor in a difficult all be it joyous time.
My children are the blessings of my life. He shared in their beginnings. I am thinking of you and your whole family as you face your loss. It was a privilege to have know him.
My son, Eben, started Tulane Medical School on Monday....I think Dr. Gabert would have liked that.

For over 50 years, Dr. Gabert served as a model physician for medical students, residents, fellows, attending physicians, and especially patients, who have had the fortune to merge paths with him in New Orleans and across the country. His common-sense approach to complex problems and his calm avuncular manner were appreciated by physicians and patients alike. As my mentor and friend, he will be greatly missed.
