Helen M. Johnson

Helen M. Johnson (Granny), age 95, went home to be with her lord on Saturday, September 10, 2016. She was born in Plaquemine, LA and was a lifelong resident of New Orleans, LA. She worked as a nurse's aide at Depaul Sanitarium. Helen was an active member and deaconess of Willing Workers Missionary Baptist Church. Helen was an amazing cook, seamstress, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend who loved to entertain. Preceded in death by her parents Robert Steward and Stella Murry; one brother, Alvin Steward; husbands Horace Clark Sr. and Uriel Johnson; and one great grandchild, Adrienne Blackman. She is survived by her daughter, Helen Robinson (Charlie); sons, Nolan Clark (Faye), and Horace Clark Jr.; 4 grandchildren, Denise Delandro, Tanya Uzcategui-Gaymon (James), Oje Kendi (Sheika), and Troy Clark Sr. (Evette); 8 great-grandchildren, Mykel Morgan (Ryan), Angel Delandro, Troy Clark Jr., Alex, Jada, and Franklin Clark, and Quincy and Maurice Gaymon; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Willing Workers Baptist Church, 2715 Washington Ave, New Orleans, LA. Viewing of the body begins at 9:00am. Burial in Holt Cemetery. Repast will follow at the family home.
