Helen Koehn Obituary

KOEHN Helen M. Fife Koehn, age 95, of Bay St. Louis, MS, passed away Wednesday, February 6, 2008 in Pass Christian, MS. She actively served throughout her long life in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and is a great-grand daughter of Brigham Young. She married Dr. Walter W. Fife of New Orleans in 1934, and shortly thereafter they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. In 1993, 13 years after she was widowed, she married Terrence Koehn of New Orleans, LA and made their home in Bay St. Louis, MS. In New Orleans, she was an assistant professor of social work at Tulane University and after retirement, joined LDS Social Services. Having retired, again, in 1980, she became Director of Social Work at Covenant and Bethany Nursing Homes. She has served on the State Board and as Vice President of the Louisana PTA. She was Disaster Chairman for the Red Cross, President of Social Welfare Planning Counsel, and Louisana National Mother of the Year in 1992. She was preceded in death by her parents, Daniel & Beulah McAllister, husband, Dr. Walter W. Fife, and daughter, Helen Elizabeth Fife. She is survived by her husband, Terrence Koehn of Bay St. Louis, MS; three sons, Dr. Walter D. Fife of Renton, WA; William W. Fife of Bay St. Louis, MS; and Jon M. Fife of Mesa, AZ; two daughters, Jo Anne Brockhoff of Diamondhead, MS; and Diana Diffrient of Diamondhead, MS; twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-three great-grand children and two great-great-grand children. Visitation will be Sunday, February 17, 2008 at 4:00 pm until 5:00 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, McLaurin Ave., Waveland, MS. Funeral Services will follow at 5:00 pm at the church. Interment will be in Ogden City Cemetary, Ogden, UT at 11:00 am February 23, 2008. Edmond Fahey Funeral Home in Bay St. Louis, MS in charge of arrangements.
