It´s hard to believe 11 years has passed since You left and I miss you as if it was yesterday . You were like no other. I was so proud to have you as an Uncle, confidant and friend. A part of me left with You, but Heaven truly received an angel. You will forever be loved and missed by many.

To my Woodside Family, God truly blessed our family for 66 years to have Uncle Herman in our lives. He truly was an instrument in all of lives with humor, encouragement, and words of wisdom to apply to our everyday lives. Yes, we will miss him deeply, but we know he is looking down on all of us cheering us on to do our best and to stand for what is right. Continue to let his legacy of love, serving, and helping others live on in our lives as we give a helping hand to help one another. He has set the example for each of us so now we all must take the torch and run the race of seeing him and our other love ones. Know that God loved him more and we must press on toward the prize of the higher calling until we all meet again. "Oh what a time it will be when we all get together." What a joyous day it will be when we all meet again. Continue to let his love for his beautiful wife our wonderful Auntie Gloria affectionately known as Glo, Gregory, Brian, and the adorable grandchildren know that we are there for them and not just in words but in action. To God be the Glory for a beautiful life lived and shared on this earth. Hallelujah and we thank you Jesus for placing Herman Earl Woodside in our lives.

To my wonderful bro: I am honored to have been your baby sister. You loved me unconditionally and the wisdom you shared with me has made me the person I am today. I know God doesn't make mistakes and I thank Him for allowing me to have shared the time we did, but I am still numb. I know with time I will be able to process all that has happen but I am at peace knowing that you are with our Lord and Savior. I am truly missing you but I am so glad that I am able to look back on all the favorable memories we made, especially the ones we made together intentionally for such a time as this. Your absence is the hardest thing I had to deal with so far and I know that I have to go on because that is what you would want me to do. Again, thank you for being my bro and loving me umconditionally. You maybe absence in the physical being but you will always grace me with your presence. Love Always Bro.

Brian sent this photo of my Uncle Herman and my Moma, Catherine. As I looked at it, I knew it was this youthful smile that I always remembered, no matter what age Uncle Herman was. In my heart he will forever be the energetic soul who was always quick to give a smile with encouragement. Uncle Herman always made himself available to discuss life and rejoiced in every accomplishment of mine and my children. I can barely imagine the days without him, yet I am at peace knowing he is not suffering. I love you Uncle Herman and I count you amoungst the finest of God's creations.

To Herman's family, my deepest sympathies for your loss. Herman will be deeply missed by so many. I met Herman many years ago when he worked at the Vet Center on Claiborne Ave. He was a great asset to all veterans and helped each and every one that he could. He did not hesitate to give a helping hand or advice when needed. When I needed help getting into the VA Hospital for back surgery he was instrumental in getting me in. I will be always grateful for his help and friendship. God Bless and Semper Fi!

Words can't express the sorry I feel for the Woodside family. Herman got me my first job with the Government 23 years ago, and there was never a time I called with a question or to refer someone to him, that he didn't take the time to respond. He was selfless in his service to others often times neglecting himself, because he never wanted anyone to feel defeated or hopeless. Herman may be gone from his earthly vessel, but his spirit reigns on for eternity never to die again.
