Isabel Ochsner Mann

1929 - 2022

Isabel Ochsner Mann passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 17, 2022 at her uptown home. Isabel was a native of New Orleans and was born on November 27, 1929 to the late Dr. Alton Ochsner and Isabel Lockwood Ochsner. She attended high school at Louis S. McGehee School in New Orleans, graduated from Finch College in New York City, and had a brief career as an Interior Decorator at Hemingways. "Sis", as she was lovingly called by family and friends, was a quintessential southern lady and belle of the ball, one of the last of her generation. She was beautiful both inside and out, a truly kind, considerate, loving, and devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She had a wonderful sense of humor, loved to tell jokes and stories, and could light up any room with her presence. Not a single soul would want for comfort or care while she had a say in the matter and that graciousness and consideration for others is what endeared her to all. Left to cherish her memory are her children Alton Ochsner Davis, Allen Pinkerton Davis, and Stephen Lockwood Davis, her daughter-in-law Penny Ross Davis, her daughter in love Pamela Fort Pipes, her step-children Celia Lady Norris, James John Francis Mann, and Charles Edward Lionel Mann, her grandchildren Ashley, Lock, Branden, Lauren, and Amelie Davis, and her great-grandchild Vivian Wetzel, as well as the countless people whose lives she touched and all those who were privileged to know her. She was predeceased by the love of her life, her husband John Pelham Mann, her son Eugene Allen "Davey" Davis, Jr., and her brothers Dr. Alton Ochsner, Jr., Dr. John Lockwood Ochsner, and Dr. Mims Gage Ochsner. The family wishes to thank Karen Boyle, Kim Standeford, and especially Cathy Orazio, for their dedicated support and care for our loving matriarch. Funeral services will be scheduled at a later date.
