He was the husband of Patricia A. (Edwards) Diamond, Reading. He was predeceased by his first wife, Therese M. (Birkenstock) Diamond, on March 26, 1995.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a son of the late William and Eleanor (McGuigan) Diamond.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during World War II and the Korean War.
Dr. Diamond was a graduate of St. Joseph's University and Temple University Medical School. Dr. Diamond was a surgical resident at St. Joseph's Hospital from 1953 to 1958. He was also a resident in oncology surgery at Sloan Kettering Hospital, New York City, and was a surgeon for many years at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was an active member of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, West Reading, where he sang in the church choir.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, James J. Diamond, husband of Maureen McCarthy-Diamond, Portland, Ore., and Francis X., husband of Cindy Diamond, Southampton; three stepsons: Charles Manula, Pottsgrove; Cyril Manula, Daytona Beach, Fla.; and Andrew Manula, at home; three stepdaughters: Mary Ann Kosciolek, Allentown; Suzanne Manula, San Francisco; and Patricia Lebo, Telford; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and seven stepgreat-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by two sons, Joseph Diamond and Gregory Diamond, and two brothers, William Diamond and the Rev. Joseph Diamond, S. J.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated today at 10:15 a.m. in Sacred Heart RC Church, Eighth and Franklin streets, West Reading. Burial will be in Gethsemane Cemetery. Friends may call today from 9 to 10 a.m. in the church.
