James Farrelly Obituary

FARRELLY James Clark Farrelly, born in New Orleans on October 21, 1931, died on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at the age of 83. Beloved husband of Ann Bennett Farrelly for 61 years.. Loving Father of James C. Farrelly, Jr (Janis); Lorraine "Casey" Braud (Pat); Wendy Farrelly Barrett (Dave); Erin Worrel (John) and Mary Farrelly. Son of the late Frances Brupbacher Farrelly and Patrick J. Farrelly. Brother of Donald Farrelly and the late John and Patrick J Farrelly Jr. Also survived by 20 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. A graduate of Warren Easton, Mr. Farrelly attended LSU, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, and graduated from Loyola University. He was the owner of New Orleans Shrimp Co.; past Grand Knight of St. Dominic's Council 3729 of the Knights of Columbus and a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulcher of Jerusalem. He was past President of Metairie Country Club, from 1980 - 1983 a member of the Board and Past Chairman of the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Commission. Mr. Farrelly was also a member of St. Dominic and St. Francis Xavier Catholic Churches. Jim loved to play golf and spend time with his grandchildren, Papa, as he was affectionately known by many, was often found attending sporting events and school functions of his grandchildren. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie, Louisiana 70005 on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 from 10:00 AM until 12 Noon. The Funeral Mass will begin at Noon. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Masses or donations to a charity of your choice in memory of James Clark Farrelly will be appreciated.
