In this day of rapid - almost instant - communication, how could we not have known of our Janet's passing for 2 months? Altho Janet did not graduate with us, she was an official "Silver Seour" of our SSA class of 1962. We were so proud to have her at our 50th Reunion, and she frequently joined us for our monthly Breakfast/Lunch. She will be sorely missed. Blessings to her family at this time - I pray that their memories of this wonderful, intelligent, talented and compassionate woman will give them comfort. Claire Thompson Brown, Fort Worth, TX

It was so obvious how much Jan and Earl were equal partners, and how much respect they have for each other. I wish your family the space to grieve as deeply as you need to in this time of transition.

When I think of Janet, I see her smiling and then sharing some deep insight. I hope for strength for Earl and the whole family at this very challenging time.

Dear Higgins Family, We are so sorry to hear about Janet's passing. She was so sweet. She and Earl helped us celebrate many family weddings. Janet never missed our family wedding and baby showers. She joined our family for it's yearly pilgrimage to 9 churches on Good Friday. All our love and prayers, The Vandenweghe Family

To the Higgins and Bienert families: I am sincerely sorry for the loss of your loved one, Dr. Janet Higgins. Dr. Higgins and I were co-workers for many years at the Metairie Area office of Disability Determinations Services. I was most impressed with Dr. Higgins' compassion, concern, and caring for the claimants who applied for Social Security Disability benefits. The last time I saw her was over 10 years ago in 2006 outside of Chaubert Medical Center in Houma--she stated she was really enjoying treating the patients at one of the clinics at Chaubert. She really cared about her patients and was happy to be working there. Dr. Higgins was a "class act" and my life was enriched by working with her. God Bless.
