Jesse Nelson Obituary
Jesse Richmond Nelson, Jr., 80, died peacefully, on Friday, March 14, 2003 after his daily walk around the Ojai Valley Hospital's Continuing Care Center. He had been a resident of that outstanding facility since recovering from a bad fall in November, 2002. He was born on September 3, 1922 in Weatherford, Texas to Mary Ruth Clark and Jesse Richmond Nelson and raised in Clovis, New Mexico. Mr. Nelson and his wife moved from New Orleans, Louisiana to Ojai, California, last year to be near their daughters. Mr. Nelson received his BA from University of Mexico. While stationed in New Orleans, LA during WWII, he married Noemie Williams Juncker, a native of New Orleans. After he was honorably discharged from the Army, he attended and received his J.D from Tulane University in New Orleans. He and his wife moved to Hot Springs, New Mexico (now Truth or Consequences, NM) to set up a law practice. Mr. Nelson served as City Attorney there and served as President of the New Mexico State Bar from to . He loved to hunt the Black Range mountains of New Mexico, was a champion Chess and Bridge player, and loved flying the country in his Navion aircraft. After a distinguished law career in New Mexico, the Nelson's returned to New Orleans where Mr. Nelson continued his law career as Vice-President of Lawyer's Title Insurance Corporation. In 1984, he and his wife started their own company, Ticorp Title of Louisiana. They built Ticorp Title of Louisiana into one of the leading title insurance companies in New Orleans. A member of the Louisiana State Bar, Mr. Nelson was recognized as one of the most distinguished real estate lawyers in the Gulf South. Mr. and Mrs. Nelson retired in 1997. Following his retirement, Mr. Nelson continued his private consultation practice. He was a member of the Pendennis Club of New Orleans, the Krewe of Alexis, Eastover County Club in New Orleans, and Tulane Alumni Association. Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife of 59 years, Noemie; their daughters, Judy Katherine and Peggy Claire; his kitty companions, Paddy and Spunky; and numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Nelson of Lubbock, Texas; his dear Aunts, Sarah and Parah Clark of Kissimmee, Florida; his mother, Mary Ruth Clark; his father, Jesse Richmond Nelson; his best dog, Scout; and numerous kitty companions. As Mr. Nelson wished no funeral, a private Memorial Service will be held at the Continuing Care Center of Ojai Valley Hospital. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Ojai Valley Community Hospital Foundation; Help of Ojai, Inc.; Basenji Rescue of Southern CA; or your favorite charity.
