Jocelyn Nyland Fromherz

FROMHERZ Jocelyn Nyland Fromherz passed away at home at the age of 85 on Sunday, February 28, 2010. She was the beloved wife of the late Frank Charles Fromherz. Mother of Frank Charles Fromherz II of New Orleans and Martha Fromherz Compton of Headland, Alabama. Mother-in-Law of Sarah Rainold Fromherz and Douglas Curry Compton. Also survived by her brother, Hendrik W. Nyland of Davis, California and her granddaughter, Amelia Baldwin Fromherz. Preceded in death by her parents Capt. Fritz Carel Nyland, USN (Ret) and Elsa Johanna Drucklieb. Mrs. Fromherz was a graduate of Newcomb College. She has held office in and served on various boards and committees of such organizations as the Needlework Guild, the Associates of Maison Hospitalière, the John J. Hainkle Jr. Home and Rehabilitation Center, the Woman's Auxiliary to the Louisiana Engineering Society, the Volunteer Committees of the New Orleans Museum of Art and the New Orleans Symphony, Les Causeries du Lundi, the Orlèans Club, the Fine Arts Club, and Le Petit Salon. Mrs. Fromherz has donated her body to science. A Memorial Service will be held at Poydras Home, 5354 Magazine Street 70115 at 3:00 PM on Tuesday, March 9, 2010. Visitation will begin at 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred Poydras Home at the preceding address.
