I worked for John for quite a few years at at Task Force 1, during that time I learned from him what an outstanding leader was. My success later in the department was as a direct direct result of what I learned from him. He will be missed

John was my first Chief when I entered the NOFD in 1978. He was a great guy to work with and I admired his skills. He gave me the nickname of "good job" and some firemen still refer to me by that name. He will be sadly missed by all that knew him. Our prayers go out to John and the entire Alfortish family.

John was my District Chief on the NOFD. He was respected by all on the Dept. He was a great chief and a great guy! He also the Firemen's and Firemen's Ins. representative and he passed it on to me when he retired in 1988. I will be forever grateful for that. Rest in Peace Chief!

How deeply sorry I am to the Alfortish family. Please remember that God understands and feels your pain. He too misses people that have died but He also remembers them. Yes, God promises to resurrect all those asleep in the grave. -Isa.26:19. What a wonderful expectation!
