John Aucoin Obituary

John Drew Aucoin, of Metairie, LA, completed his earthly journey on Wednesday, October 12, 2022. He was born in New Orleans, LA on November 6, 1969. Nikki Gossett Aucoin, his supporting wife of 17 years, was by his side. He is survived by their two boys, Callen Peter Aucoin and Casen Paul Aucoin; sister, Arrin Gresse (Marvin Sr.); brothers: Brenton Aucoin (Sandy), Patrick Aucoin (Nathalie) and Michael Aucoin; faithful nieces: Ashley Thiery (Mike), Christian Martin (Paul), Fabienne Teaney, Brandie Aucoin, and Amanda Aucoin; devoted nephews: Marvin Gresse Jr. (Patricia), Jeffrey Gresse, and Ben Aucoin; and his extended family: Judy Ancona (Marty), Rex Gossett (Beverly) and Bailey Gossett. He was preceded in death by his parents, Normand and Geraldine Aucoin; siblings, Bennie Dorris (Clay) and Susan Aucoin; and nephew, Randon Aucoin. Drew attended St. Matthew the Apostle in River Ridge, "the land of milk and honey", where his childhood memories of football at Little Farms Playground and swimming at Paradise Manor Country Club molded his forever young character. In 1987, he graduated from De La Salle High School in New Orleans. He also attended UNO, Delgado, and Loyola Universities before embarking on a 28 year career in the maritime industry, building his own successful company, J. Drew Aucoin Adjusting Service. Throughout his life, Drew was an avid LSU and Saints fan. He was always smiling and the life of the party, where his exaggerated "Drew-isms" reigned. Many holiday occasions were hosted at his home and there was always an open invitation to join him on the beach in Destin. Fondly known as "Coach Drew", he was a long-time devoted supporter of St. Catherine of Siena School and Church and Pontiff Playground where he coached sports year-round. Of most importance, Drew was a devoted and committed father to his sons Callen and Casen, who brought the greatest joy to his life. He was also a generous supporter of many charities including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and the Smile Train. Drew is affectionately remembered by all of his friends and family as someone who lived life to the fullest until his last days. He loved his family, never met a stranger, and never hesitated to help a friend in need. He always said, "I got a guy", but Drew was everyone's guy and will be missed by all. Thank you to the wonderful MICU staff at Ochsner Hospital who so graciously supported his family in his final days. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel Blvd, Metairie, LA 70005. Visitation will begin at 10:00 am followed by Mass at 12:00 noon. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to ALSAC/St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in the name of John Drew Aucoin at https://fundraising.stjude.org/site/TR/GiftFunds/GiftFunds?px=7760358&pg=personal&fr_id=39300. To the Aucoin family - we in the Pastorek family support you in the loss of Drew. Sad to lose him so early in his life. But, he was a great guy - like his father - and life his short life to the fullest. May he rest in peace.

Drew truly welcomed me back to New Orleans and we were great friends. Callen and Caden, your dad was so proud of both of you and always bragged about everything you did. I´m so glad to have gotten to know you boys. You two are going to do great things in life. You both made your dad so happy and he loved his time he had with you. Please know you both can reach out anytime as your similar to my boys age and I´m here if you need me. I´ll miss your dad and I´m so sorry. Love, Kendra.
