Dear Anne,
A gracious and lovely spirit like John is rare; I always felt inspired in his presence and had a deep respect for his level of dedication to all he did. He walked through life the way I hope to and I pass on mine and Maria's love.

Ann, you and your family are certainly in my prayers. What more can a person ask for out of life- love, laughter, friends and loving family.... God choose you to share this with John. Though I have not seen you both in years, I know the wonderful memories will help you in this very sad time.

I remember the day Oak Street was flooding, and John got his canoe out and made his way down Oak St.
He was an amazing friend, and artist. He had such a diverse group of people who loved and cared for him deeply. I'll always have wonderful memories of him.

Dear Anne, John was a gentleman and truly a gentle man who was so talented and so warm. It has been my pleasure to get to know you both, and I only hope he wrote a book to have all of his interesting and wonderful life experiences written down in history. I was looking forward to fun times with you both on Riverside Drive. My heart goes out to you, your daughter, and family. He will be greatly missed. Love, Ellen

Every now and then a soul walks among us, sometimes with only a smile and unyielding kindness. Teaching as he goes the meaning of friendship, generosity and daring. John Burr was such a teacher. For me and countless others. Like them, I shall carry the lessons he bestowed upon me with both gratitude and wonder. I will miss you my beloved friend. But I will never forget you. None of us will.
