John Doucette Obituary

John Doucette Jr, Husband, Father, Pops, and Friend. Passed away peacefully at his home on Nov 30, 2022. John was a Veteran of the Korean War. An original member of the Autocrat Club and a devoted parishioner of Corpus Christi Catholic Church. John was a Master Carpenter, a skill passed along from his father John Sr. His hard work and attention to detail brought him into many homes to perform his intricate woodworking. He would ride the city of New Orleans to point out homes he spent months and sometimes years renovating. His stories and accomplishments were amazing. His proudest accomplishment of all is the home he built for his family. John and Collette married on December 27th, 1956, and moved into this home where they raised their 4 children John III, Joni, Jan, and Joy. John's favorite pastime was socializing. Socializing by any means via phone, porch, truck, garage, or McDonald's. His visits always meant a good laugh with a possibility of a prank to follow. He also had a vast knowledge of good "reasonable" eateries. We will miss you Daddy, Johnny, Uncle Pretty, Meathead. John leaves to cherish his memory his devoted daughters Joni Norris and Joy Doucette, brother and sisters Theyon Lieteau, Edward Doucette, and Edith Richardson, son-in-law Dwight Norris, daughter-in-law Joyce Doucette, grandchildren John Doucette, Marquez Doucette, Dwayne Mitchell and Yoshi Lindsey, lifelong friend Oliver Badon and a host of Nephews, Nieces, and Friends. He was preceded in death by his parents John and Thelma Doucette, his wife of 66 years Collette G Doucette and children John Doucette III and Jan Doucette. Relatives and Friends of the Family are all invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 9, 2022 at 11:00am at Corpus Christi/Epiphany Catholic Church 2022 St. Bernard Ave. NOLA 70116. Visitation will begin at 10:00am. Private Burial at St. Louis #3. Due to Covid-19, everyone attending is required to wear masks and adhere to social distancing. I had the honor and privilege of being Mr. Doucette´s dentist in the latter years of his life. He loved to have long and interesting conversations with us. He kept us all on our toes.
Rest in peace .

I had the privilege of getting to know Mr. Doucet years ago when I was a young 7th Ward lawyer. He always was such a class act. Sympathies to his family.
