John F. Drap Jr.

1944 - 2021

This true man of God fell asleep in the arms of his Savior on April 25, 2021, in Pensacola, Florida. Hurricane Katrina, 2005, forced John and his wife, Liberty T. Redshoes, to flee the devastated city of New Orleans and relocate to Florida. John was born December 3rd, 1944, in Cleveland, Ohio, but considered New Orleans his most cherished home. Postmaster, bartender (Harrah's New Orleans), and actor, he was world-traveled, intelligent, funny, and carried a strong spiritual love. He also brought his wife and companion of 25 years breakfast in bed every morning. John's three children with Elaine Peiffer Drap (deceased) are Christopher (Suzanne), Barry (Jennifer) and Amy (Tivo). He recognized each as very special and wonderful adults. Sisters Margaret Harrison (widowed) and Tish Evans (David) were gifts in John's eyes. His beloved parents are deceased, but numerous nieces and nephews were a big part of John's life. There were so many grandchildren John loved with all his heart: Sara, Christopher, Timothy, Nickolas, Megan, Emily, Noah, Simon, and two new precious souls: great grandchildren Christopher John Drap, and Justen Meeks. A celebration of John F. Drap's life will be held Saturday, November 20, 2021, at 11 o'clock A.M. at St. Louis Cemetery #3, 3421 Esplanade Avenue, New Orleans, in particular the St. Francis Garden Mausoleum, which faces St. Joseph Avenue.
