In 1999 my husband, a niece and I (John's cousin) flew from CA to visit Jennings, LA (my mother's birthplace). Visited a couple of cemeteries to see family gravesite. Had dinner with Joe, Liz and visited with John who gave me lots of pictures of the Firestone family. It was a wonderful time together. I just recently learned of the death of Liz and, now John. I knew Joe was gone but was so saddened to learn the other siblings are as well. An unforgettable experience. Good memories of the Firestone family (and Minnix family too). Always heard so much about the family and Mom got letters from them once in awhile. Do not know how to get in touch with John , Jr. but if he reads this know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers. Much love, Barbara June (Smith) Hill.

My sympathies go out to the family of Dr. Firestone. I was his medical assistant from about 1991 until he retired. It was a great pleasure working for him. He treated me with the most upright respect. He was so good to his patients. He took care of them in a way that does not exist anymore. He made sure all of his patients' phone calls were returned before leaving for the day and he made sure everything was handled before letting his patients go, no matter how long it took. I had no idea that Dr. Firestone was involved in all of the things listed in his obituary. I am truly impressed. He will be missed. I would love to be able to attend the celebration you will be having in the future if someone could contact me.

R.I.P. John Firestone. One of the most outstanding members of the memorable class of 1957, L.S.U. Health Science Center, New Orleans. A much appreciated mentor to young physicians, and an outstanding physician for many years. He set an example for us all. It was a privilege to know him these many years.

On behalf of Althea Dupre (LPN at Expressway Medical Center she greatly repected Dr. Firestone and his work. She worked with him and others at the center. With his contributions to the medical field I know he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
