John Moore Obituary
MOORE, John B. (Jack), 84, died December 3, 2003 at Memorial Hospital in Tampa, Florida. Born December 31, 1918 in Chicago, Ill., he was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years Marion (Jerry) F. Fitzgerald Moore, who died in 1993 and son, John B. (Jackie) Moore, Jr., who died in 1970. Jack grew up in the Chicago area before moving to Birmingham, Ala. and then Atlanta, Ga. Jack served in the Marine Corps during World War II, where he was stationed in Okinawa. He attained the rank of Corporal. He was employed by Kraft Foods Company for 25 years while living in Chattanooga, Tenn. After moving to Tampa in 1971, he owned and operated Mari-Jack, a retail sundry goods company. After retiring in 1983, he moved to West Palm Beach, Fla. in 1995 and moved back to Tampa in 2001. Jack is survived by his daughter, Diana Tierney of Houston, Texas; son, Stephen Moore of West Palm Beach, Fla.; son, Russell Moore of Orlando, Fla.; son, Brian Moore of Tampa; sister, Betty Lee of Ellijay, Ga.; grandson, Sean Brannon of Chattanooga, Tenn.; grandson, Paul Brannon of Chattanooga, Tenn.; granddaughter, Jessica Moore of Tallahassee, Fla.; granddaughter, Elizabeth Moore of West Palm Beach, Fla.; grandson, Travis Moore of Orlando, Fla.; grandson, Michael Moore of Orlando, Fla.; great-grandsons, Parker Brannon and Tucker Brannon of Chattanooga, Tenn.; Jack was involved with working with young people for all of his life. He coached football, basketball and baseball at Our Lady of Perpetual Help grammar school in Chattanooga in the 1960's. He was also involved in the City of East Ridge (TN) Recreation Department. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader in the 1960's. Later in life, he coached in the Tampa youth leagues in the 1980's. He enjoyed playing tennis and bowling, but his first passion was playing golf. He recorded three hole-in-one's during his golf career that ended when health problems arose in 2000. He was a four-to-seven handicap player for most of his life and was a member of the Rocky Point Golf Club in Tampa from 1983 to 1995. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The family requests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to your favorite charity.
