John Edward 'Eddie' Moore, 83

FELTON - John Edward "Eddie" Moore, of Felton, died Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, in Bayhealth-Milford Memorial Hospital. He was 83. He was born on July 30, 1925, the youngest child of the late Sara Kelly Moore and G. William "Bill" Moore Mr. Moore was a graduate of Felton High School. In 1941, he entered the U.S. Navy where he proudly served during World War II. After returning from the Navy, he attended barber school in Baltimore, Md., in 1946. In November of 1946, Eddie and his brother Jimmy took over the Felton Barber Shop from their father. They worked side by side for the next 40 years, becoming a constant fixture and gathering place on the Main Street of Felton, until they retired in 1987. In his spare time, Eddie enjoyed being around his grandchildren, fishing, tinkering in his workshop, and traveling. Eddie was a lifetime member of the Felton Fire Co. He was also a member of the Frederica and Harrington Senior Centers where he loved to play 500 and Pinochle. He was a member of the Felton United Methodist Church. The family wishes to extend their thanks and sincere gratitude to the Felton and Frederica Fire Co. ambulance services, the caring and compassionate nursing staff on 2 West of Milford Memorial Hospital, and to Dr. Viloria and his staff. Our heartfelt thanks will never be enough to repay you for all your care and special attention. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Carol A. Moore; his daughter and son-in-law with whom he lived, Marsha and Richard Wilson of Frederica; grandchildren, Cory Lee Ballinger and his wife Cara of Ft. Bragg, N.C., Andrew Thomas Wilson and Sara-Katherine Elizabeth Wilson both of Frederica; great grandsons, Kevin and Jordan Massro; step-grandsons, A. Nicholas Bahrman-Wilson and his wife Kristina, and Matthew R. Bahrman-Wilson of Jacksonville, Fla.; his brother, James W. Moore of Felton; sister, Musetta Cox Hausler of Harrington; four nephews and four nieces. Funeral services were 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 1, 2008, at Melvin Funeral Home, 15522 South DuPont Hwy., Harrington. Burial was in Barratts Chapel Cemetery, Frederica. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the Felton Fire Company, P.O. Box 946 Felton, DE 19943; or to the Harrington Senior Center, 102 Fleming Street, Harrington, DE 19952.
