Dear Deryl,
Sorry for the delay. I lost my mom in March of 2010, so that year was a blur to me. I just found out about John and did not know where to to look for his services. I am now living and working in Northern California.
My heart goes out to you and your family for your loss.
John was a great man and a wondeful human being.
I worked with John when we were both right out of the police academy in the 8th district in the 70's. We both later also worked together in the 7th District until I retired in 2002. I enjoyed our times together very much. He was a good police officer. I will give you one comical moment with John. We were working in the 8th District and we were writing tickets on Orleans Avenue near North Carrollton Ave. when a passing seagull pooped and it landed on John's badge. Needless to say we stopped writing tickets that day. I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

Never does one feel oneself so utterly helpless as in trying to speak comfort for great bereavement. I will not try it. Time is the only comforter for the loss of a loved one.

Dear Deryl and Jaime,
I worked with John in the Seventh District from the mid 80's to the early 90's. I will always remember his great sense of humor, his quick wit, and his professionalism. He was a mentor, a trusted collegue, but most of all a good friend who will be truly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.

I grew up with John (uncle john as I called him) as my neighbor and friend. He would be the first to say Hey when he saw you and always had a good compliment to offer. He loved to work in his yard, or on his cars. he was a really cool neighbor to have and really enjoyed life. He is certainly missed. My prayers go out to his family and loved ones. I pray that your memories together bring you peace and happiness!

I was greatly saddened to learn of John's passing. I had the pleasure of working with him when i was assigned to the Seventh District from 1985 to when I left the job in May 1987. John always had a strong sense of family and a great sense of humor, even when he was working the desk.
My prayers and condolences go to the family and friends.
