Jonathan Laugand Obituary

Jonathan Arthur Laugand entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 30, 2022, at the age of 46. He was a lifelong resident of New Orleans. La. Jonathan was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, class of 1995. At Kennedy he continued his love of the marching band unit after serving as a band member and drum major of The Mighty F. W. Gregory Gators marching unit. "Jay", as he was affectionately known, loved food and service and therefore lived his adult life serving others in the restaurant industry. Through the many years he earned several titles within his field including line cook, expeditor, Sous Chef, Kitchen Manager, and Restaurant General Manager. While employed in the restaurant industry for over 25 years, Jay was able to say that he cooked and entertained many who dined in restaurants that were local and national favorites including Dragos, Oceana Grill, New Orleans Food and Spirits and Sicily's Italian Buffet to name a few. He would often invite his family and friends to visit and dine with him and the restaurant staff on celebratory day.He would make the gathering fun and eventful with his side splitting jokes and his quick wit. Some of his favorite moments included his times as guest Chef on the Fox 8 Morning Show or his conversations with celebrities who visited the restaurants he worked for. Loving father of Jonathan Jr, Joshua, Johanna, and Jacob Laugand. Son of Arthur G. Laugand and Cathy Wiltz. Brother of Alex (Veronica), Ron (Janet), Paul (Alicia), Helana, Austin, and Neil Laugand. Also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends. Relatives and friends of the family and former co-workers are invited to attend the Homegoing services at St. James Methodist Church of Louisiana, 1925 Ursulines Ave, New Orleans, La. 70116. on Friday, December 2, 2022, at 10:30 A.M. Rev. Dr. Joseph A. Tilly officiating. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. until service time at the church. Interment: St. Roch Cemetery #1, 1725 St. Roch Ave. New Orleans, La. Friends family and associates of Jay especially the class of 95. Even though we both had our different set of crews that we hung with when it came to that band classroom it was a different story. We put a differences aside and we became one to put out the most profound sound of a band that became of New Orleans that everybody loved to come see John F Kennedy to play. Rest on jay. Rest on
