Joseph Arthur D''Angelo Jr.

Joseph Arthur D'Angelo, Jr., passed away on Wednesday, October 27, 2021. He was the son of the late Gertrude Grosskopf D'Angelo and Joseph A. D'Angelo Sr. and the brother of the late Dollie Hatcher. He was the beloved husband of Martha Maxey D'Angelo and the proud father of Carol Ashton D'Angelo (deceased) and Joseph A. D'Angelo III (Sasha). Beloved grandfather of Brittany Ashton D'Angelo, Joseph A. D'Angelo IV and Virginia Carol D'Angelo. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, William S. Maxey (Ruth), nephews, Ray Hatcher and Ronald Hatcher and niece, Rebecca Hatcher Garteiser. Joe was born in Newark, NJ, but considered Mobile, Alabama home after the age of nine. He was a 1959 graduate of Murphy High School in Mobile and graduated from the University of Alabama. He was inducted into the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps and served three years at an Army hospital in Wurtzberg, Germany, attaining the rank of Captain. After discharge from the service, he enrolled in the Graduate Program in Hospital Administration at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, obtaining an MSHA degree. In 1975, he became the Director of Continuing Medical Education at Tulane Medical Center and was in that position for 17 years. He completed his career as the President of the Institute of Professional Education at LSU Health Sciences Center, retiring in 2005. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Services at Honaker Funeral Home, 1751 Gause Blvd. West (in Forest Lawn Cemetery), Slidell, LA., on Monday, November 1, 2021 at 2:00 pm.
