Plenty has been said in regard to all the good this man brought to us during the course of his time on earth, and we cannot say enough but the most important thing is to remember what he brought, the good, that it existed, that he witnessed such to us and we need to do the same to others least we all forget. Humility came thru him along with many other gifts to us. We need more like him, more of us to behave like him, especially us men.

He was and remains a great example of humility and strength as he knew where his strength came from and used it to know and do the will of God. He had a quiet strength about him that was consistent with great courage and fearlessness. He had a great impact on me and many others by the way he lived his life. He was a great witness for Christ and still is today. He was the type of man our young men need to be around and many of them were molded by people like him when the draft was fully operational and all young men served time in the military. Their service did more for them in many cases than they did for the country as they were mentored in many cases by people like General Dabadie. He always served and never did I see or hear about him seeking to be served. His memory needs to live on as he is a great role model and we are in desperate need of such role models today. I had the honor of teaching his son how to swim and he had confidence in me and trust which I appreciated. What little I saw of him was all positive and authentic and it obviously made a big impression on me as I remember it. He was a bigger role model for more young men than he thought and need to all remember that as men there are more eyes on you than you realize, you are impacting a lot more people than you think by how you act. The authenticity and consistency of his behavior as well as its virtue were and are something young people are attracted to without even realizing it at times. It must be that we are made to be attracted to it as we desire good, it is in our hearts. i don't know how else to explain it but I do know there is great benefits to young men and boys to be around such men and parents needs to encourage it as much as possible. He was and continues to be a great witness of living as Jesus Christ and a great leader. The last time I saw him was from a distance as usual as I did not really know him personally, and it was him sitting with his wife in church at our Lady of Mercy in Baton Rouge praying the divine mercy chaplet before mass. He was not there to get attention but to honor God. The last time i saw him personally was in Lafayette at a National Guard function where my cousin, Keith Waddell was being promoted. He was there supporting young men as always.

This is truly a man's man and I say IS rather than was because he is still with us in spirit and memory. He is a great witness for young boys and men. We need more men like him, more today than ever. My only regret is that I did not know him better but have benefited greatly because of how he lived and his Catholic faith was at the center of it all. He lived it. Thank God for men like him.

Steve and Sue, my heart goes out to both of you, please pass on my sincere sympathy and condolences to the rest of the family. You didn't only lose a father and father in law, but also a hero. I know this because he was also my hero. I met Levy in the early 1960's and he immediately struck me as a leader. I am proud to say that I served with him, was inspired by him, but also that he and I became friends through the years. He is definitely one of the many leaders I served with who helped me with my own career. I will miss him a lot. May God bless Levy and forever hold him in the palm of his hand.

General Dabadie was a great role model for our young men and needs to be remembered as such as we are in great need of such role models today. He was one of those individuals who had a very strong positive influence on people by how he
consistently lived his entire life. It was an honor to have known him. My regret is that I did not know him better. We are running out of men like General Dabadie in America. We can never have to many of men like him.

The first time I saw Levy was at a Rougon 6 man football game where he was one of the referees. Later I recall he ran the little gas station at Lieux Cheverolet - that was about 1957. Later I recognize him as a Brigadier General in the National Guard. The last time I saw Levy was at Lindy Boggs' interment at St Mary's Cemetery. It was a very hot day and I recall pulling him across the street into Donald Cazayoux's office to cool off, it was way to hot for him to standing out in the open.
We shall miss him, a great leader and very humble man. He was one New Roads finest of men.
