Joseph Edwards Obituary

EDWARDS Joseph Arthur "Boonie" Edwards, Sr. entered into eternal rest on Saturday, May 15, 2010 at 9:30 A. M. at the age of 85. He was preceded in death by his parents, Irben and Ethel Arceneaux Edwards. Beloved husband of the late Ann Harleaux Edwards. Father of Joseph Arthur Edwards, Jr. and father-in-law of Marie Smith Edwards. Grandfather of Rhonda Edwards Javery and the late Joseph Arthur "Buster" Edwards, III. Grandfather-in-law of Terry Javery. Great-grandfather of Laila Marie Javery. He is also survived by his sister Loris E. Saberre, brothers Warren Edwards of San Diego, CA, Irben "Pa" Edwards of Deltona, FL and the late Clarence "Tiny" Edwards. Godfather of Louis W. Harleaux and Jared Guidry. His devoted friend Diann Jackson. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, priests and parishioners of Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic, also former employees of Lykes Brothers Steamship Company, Inc., Algiers Point Condominiums, Bethany Nursing Home, staff of Rejuvenating Concepts, Inc., Community Hospice, employees of Stewart Enterprises, Disability Determination Services and LSU Health Sciences Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Corpus Christi-Epiphany Catholic Church, 2022 St. Bernard Ave., New Orleans, LA 70116, on Friday, May 21, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. Reverend John G. Harfmann, Celebrant. Visitation will begin at 9:00 A.M. Recitation of the rosary at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be private at Mount Olivet Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society, 2605 River Road, New Orleans, LA 70121, or in his memory to Corpus Christi-Epiphany Community Center Funding.
