Joshua Thompson Guidry, a New Orleans Fire Department firefighter, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday July 10, 2021, at the age of 35. Joshua was born March 21, 1986, in New Orleans, LA. Son of Robert Ray Guidry, Sr. and Eula Thompson Guidry. Devoted partner of Rhenada Naquin and proud father to be of baby boy Guidry due in October. Brother of Mhakea Guidry LaMotte (Kelly) and Beau Guidry (Kimberly). Loving Uncle of Cruz Lennox LaMotte, Kai Easton LaMotte, Xavier Cael Guidry and Zoe Dell Guidry. Nephew of Arthur Lee Guidry. Honorary Lil brother of Terrel McMurray. Joshua was preceded in death by grandparents: Alphonse M. Thompson, Jr. and Annie Dell Thompson, Millard Guidry, and Grace Hebert Guidry. Joshua leaves a host of cousins and lifelong friends to cherish his memory. A native of New Orleans, Joshua moved to Houston, TX at an early age. He graduated from Clearview High School and attended Louisiana Tech in Ruston, LA. The family returned to New Orleans after Katrina to restore the Thompson family home. While in New Orleans, Joshua worked as a mental health tech for University Hospital. He was an avid fisherman, loved the outdoors and enjoyed cooking. He was an actor and a member of SAG Aftra (Screen Actors Guild) having appeared in NCIS: New Orleans (2014), Acid Test (2017) and Queen Sugar (2016). However, he found his calling when he joined the NOFD in 2017 and was assigned to Station 8 on Florida Ave. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Leo The Great/ St. Raymond Catholic Church, 2916 Paris Ave., New Orleans, LA 70119. Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Interment: Private, Burial will be at a later date. As mandated by the State of Louisiana due to COVID-19 pandemic, attendance is limited. Everyone is required to adhere to all restrictions. You must wear a face mask at all times and practice social distancing.
