Josiah Bruorton, Jr. Goose Creek - Josiah Herman "Joe" Bruorton, Jr. 74, of Goose Creek, SC, the loving husband of Diane H. Bruorton of 53 years, went home to be with the Lord on May 24, 2021. Joe was born on November 19, 1946, in Kingstree, SC, to the late Josiah H. Bruorton, Sr. and Hilda D. Bruorton. He was raised in Andrews, SC, and graduated in August, 1966, from the South Carolina Area Trade School in Columbia. Joe worked at the Charleston Naval Shipyard and transferred to Camp Lejuene, NC. He retired in July of 2005 - Civilian DOD. Joe returned to Goose Creek, SC, and started working with the Charleston County School District as an electrician until he retired in May of 2020. Joe was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a member of Crowfield Baptist Church and was a Mason at Union, Kilwinning Lodge 4 AFM. Joe is survived by his wife, Diane H. Bruorton; daughter, Susan Bruorton McMicking (Keith); son, Josiah H. Bruorton, III (Joey); granddaughters, Lauren McMicking and Ella Bruorton all of Goose Creek; sister, Susan B. Dusenbury of Walnut Cove, NC; nieces, Kim, Beth and Camille; his beloved dogs, Teddy and Sophie and many friends he considered family. In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by his sister, Janice Camille Bruorton Cooper; nephew, Sollie E Cooper (Coop); and daughter-in-law, Stephanie Bruorton. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until 12:00 pm on Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Carolina Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremation located at 7113 Rivers Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406. 843-797-2222.
