Juan Cyril "Wine" Spencer Sr.

1950 - 2023

Juan "Wine" Cyril Spencer Sr. transitioned into eternal rest on August 11, 2023, at age 73. Wine was born in New Orleans, LA on April 16, 1950, to the late William L. Spencer Jr. and the late Ursula S. Spencer. He was raised alongside 6 brothers and 1 sister. He attended G.W. Carver High School. Wine was a man of many trades and worked as a truck driver ("Quick-Stick") and a mechanic throughout his life. He was a huge Saints fan and "pool-shark" with a profound love for fishing. Wine loved helping others and was known by his family as "the man who never said no" and "the man who Always showed up". Wine leaves an abundance of memories to be cherished by his wife Cynthia Spencer; daughter Michelle Boudreaux and son Juan C. Spencer Jr. (Lakesha); six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Tyrone Spencer (Elizabeth); sisters-in-law, Christine Davis (Johnny), Wanda Washington (Alton) and Sandra Spencer; two Godsons Eric Miller and Lester Ezidore Jr., as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Wine is preceded in death by his parents William L. Spencer Jr. and Ursula S. Spencer; five brothers William "Pee-Wee" Spencer III, Alton "Buck" Spencer, Burnell Spencer, Robert Spencer and Larry Spencer; one sister Ursula Spencer; father-in-law Charles Davis and mother-in-law Mary Broussard; sister-in-law Bonita Davis; nieces Tamzy Bowie and Yvonne Miller. Relatives and friends of the family, also members of The UpFront Boys, the Press Park and Desire community, G.W. Carver High School, and The Home Depot, are welcomed to join us in Celebrating the Amazing Life Wine Lived, on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. at Gentilly Baptist Church, 5141 Franklin Ave., New Orleans, LA 70122.
